Inquiring About a Grant
The Harris Foundation envisions making the world a better place for the well-being and safety of plants, animals and human beings.
Criteria for a Grant
The Directors consider projects for funding which identify root causes and develop innovative solutions. Other criteria for funding are as follows:
- That the project have a far-reaching impact with lasting benefits.
- That the organization be able to fulfill the goals set, and there are specific plans for continuing the work started by the project.
- Geographical focus for giving is concentrated in the western United States including the Rocky Mountains and Intermountain regions — Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
Letter of Inquiry
The Directors require a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) prior to consideration of any proposal. The letter must not exceed two (2) pages and must be signed by an officer of the organization. Supporting materials may be attached.
The letter of inquiry must include the following information:
- The maximum amount for a solicited grant request is $10,000.
- A brief description of the project.
- The intended result of the project.
- The duration of the project.
- The funding strategy for the project.
- The total budget amount for the project.
- The total amount budgeted for the organization for the current year.
- A one-sentence statement certifying the status of the organization as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization which is not a private Foundation.
Letters of Inquiry must be received between January 1 and March 1 and may be sent via email to harrisfoundation@lvcoxmail.com.
A confirmation will be sent to all LOI submissions received via email. If you do not receive a confirmation notice, please phone our office at 702.253.1317. Facsimiles (faxes) are not accepted.
